The Dow Chemical Company

Amaia Bastero was born in San Sebastian, Spain in 1975. Graduated in 1998 as a Chemist by the University of Zaragoza (Spain) and obtained a PhD in Chemistry in 2002 by the University of Rovira I Virgili for her work on “Olefin- carbon monoxide co-polymerization with new palladium  catalysts”.

In 2003 she moved to Germany where she worked for two and a half years as scientific staff in the group of Prof. Stefan Mecking on emulsion polymerization first at the FMF research Institute in Freiburg and then in the University of Konstanz. From 2005 to 2007 she became a research member of the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) in Tarragona (Spain) working on catalytic processes.

Since 2007 she works for the Dow Chemical Company in Spain as part of the technical service and development department of the Packaging and Specialty Plastics business. Her work focuses in the development of plastics for pipe applications and since January 2012 she is the European Pipe Application Technology Leader in Dow. Since June 2012, she is also the Customer technical service center leader reporting to the European R&D Director.
